Danehy Park

Going to Danehy Park was a nice surprise for us.  B and I were actually going to head out with Hugo to a different park but we were running low on time.  We had been to Danehy park a bunch with Hugo during the spring and summer this past year but they have finally added one section which made this place AWESOME!  It is at the bottom of the review.  Now on with the review of Danehy Park…

Negative – On Leash

As you can see from the Regulations sign above, all dogs must be on leashes.  The sign says that this will be strictly enforced but we didn’t see anyone out there.  Really, as we have found from our Willards Woods LCC experience, it takes a lot of money that towns do not want to put in to keep these parks policed.  Please make sure that if you do end up taking your dog off leash, that you can easily call them back.  There may be a few pics of Hugo later on off leash but he did walk in on it 🙂

Positive – Many Trash and Recycling Cans

A really great part of this park is that they have tons of cans for both trash and recycling.  Leave it to a Cambridge Park to have so many trash cans and recycling bins to use to keep their park clean.  Job well done!

Positive – The fields

Danehy Park has a ton of fields.  The one in the picture above is actually a full sized football field that has lights up so teams can play at night too.  I have never actually seen football played on this field.  Usually it is soccer or frisbee.   But that is not the only field in the park.  There are two baseball fields which many cricket games are played on and two soccer fields which are always in use.  The picture below is of Hugo running as hard as he can with the Air Kong.  Boy does he love running after this thing but he will never bring it right back to us.

Positive – Playgrounds

They really thought about everything with this park.  There are two playgrounds in this place.

Positive – Parking

There is actually tons of parking for this park.  I think it is due to all of the fields but we aren’t complaining.  We couldn’t actually find the picture in this park for a while but we did this day.  It is very close to the Fresh Pond movie theater.

BIGGEST POSITIVE – Dog Park

Honestly, B and I couldn’t believe it when we saw this place.  For a very long time the park had always said that they had a dog run in this location but it was more of a flooded field from the pond.  We were amazed when we we walking next to the football field and saw this below us.  It is such a good dog park.  It is actually a very long park where you can do a pretty good throw of the ball and still keep it in the fenced in area.  I really can’t explain how happy when we saw this, it is really such a good park.  In addition to the big large dog area, there is also locations for puppies and dogs on time out.

Overall – One of the best

Really, I can not say enough good about this park.  We had had a lot of fun at this park for a long time before and now with the dog park, it is even better.  Really, this park is one of the great examples of a perfectly planned park.  I think this was one of the landfill parks that were capped and are now enjoyed by so many.  I hope everyone can come to this park soon and maybe we will see you there.  Until then, enjoy your walks, I know Hugo sure will.
